The craftsman - Roger Trebilcock
Raised on the Cornish coast of England, Roger Tebilcock's connection with the sea can be traced back through generations of fisherman, sailors and traders. He started surfing at the age of 12 & went on to be selected for the English surf team.
His love of wood led him to complete a seven-year carpentry & joinery apprenticeship, to qualify as a master craftsman. Roger owned one of Europe's most successful back-packer lodges in Newquay, Cornwall. He moved to South Africa with his wife, Claire in 2004.
Buy the Sea was born through Roger's desire to save vast quantities of indigenous driftwood from destruction during clear up operations, following massive floods along the Plettenberg Bay coast in 2007.
